Canadian Working at Heights & Fall Protection
Canadian Working at Heights & Fall Protection Training
For workers, supervisors, and safety professionals across Canada.
Falls from height remain one of the leading causes of workplace death and serious injury in Canada — and almost all of them are preventable. This course equips you to identify fall hazards, understand your rights and responsibilities under Canadian safety regulations, and select and inspect the right fall protection equipment. You'll explore the hierarchy of controls, distinguish prevention from protection systems, and learn how to respond to emergencies, including the risks of suspension trauma.
Which course is right for you? This is our general, Canada-wide fall protection course, covering the core knowledge for working at heights in any province. If you work in Ontario and want Ontario-specific OHSA coverage in greater depth, choose Working at Heights & Fall Protection Training: Ontario's OHSA Compliance instead.

Working at Heights Is a Shared Responsibility
Employers are required to identify fall hazards, provide and maintain the right fall protection systems, and ensure workers are trained before working at height. Workers, in turn, are expected to use the fall protection provided, inspect it before each use, and follow safe work procedures.
What's inside — 4 modules + final assessment
- Understanding Canadian Legislation, Roles & Hazard Identification — the laws that govern work at heights, employer and worker duties, and how to identify fall hazards.
- Fall Protection Systems: Types, Selection & Safe Use — the main categories, how they differ, and how to select the right system.
- Travel Restraint Systems, Body Harness, Lanyards & Anchors — how travel restraint works and how to fit and connect the key components.
- Inspection, Maintenance & Emergency Rescue Planning — inspecting and maintaining equipment and why every job at height needs a rescue plan.

How it works
The course is fully self-paced, so you can start, stop, and pick up again on your own schedule. Every lesson is voice-narrated with interactive checkpoints that confirm you've absorbed each section before moving on. As soon as you pass the final exam, you can immediately generate your certificate.
Please note: This is a knowledge-based fall protection course. Where a jurisdiction requires an approved Working at Heights certification — such as Ontario's MLITSD-approved program — that training includes a mandatory hands-on practical component delivered in person.
